Drinks Styling

How to style your drinks Trolley?

Drinks trolley are the coolest home trend of the moment, every Home-interior magazine and furniture shop features them. In vogue are retro, industrial and art deco inspired styles.

Given that we are spending more time at home and Christmas is coming, it makes sense to have a pretty and functional trolley for your favourite drinks.

However, think ahead as you don’t want to rush into a purchase. Ideally you want to add a piece of furniture that will complement your interior.

Think about style rather than cluttered.

Drinks Trolley

A well-chosen drinks trolley will take centre stage in your home which is why it is important to combine practicality and aesthetic.

What will be the right Drinks trolley for you and your interior?

I strongly believe like every house interior decision, you need to think about where the trolley will sit in the room, colours, materials, size as well as what & how you want to use it.

What will be the point of buying a drinks trolley that is just holding a few bottles when you where thinking of preparing cocktails on it? or buying an art-deco style trolley when the rest of your interior is minimalist industrial. Just because you saw it on the front page of a trendy magazine does not mean it will fit your interior & needs.

Do you want this trolley to be mobile or stationery? Just project yourself and think about the size.
Nothing could be worse than having a trolley that you want to move around but doesn’t fit through the gaps between the sofa and the dining table!

Shelves: How many? what do you want to store on it? are you making cocktails on it?

The drinks trolley will be exposed so you want to make sure you dress it with aesthetic items such as bottles, glasses, candles, barware, flowers – I wouldn’t for instance recommend the centre piece of your drinks trolley to be a styleless small bottle but will go for a vintage style bottles with attractive label or a carafe.

How to Style It

Let’s create your fashionably elegant and sophisticated drinks trolley.

Choose bottles with different colours, shapes and balance them with different heights. A mixture of alcohol types always adds to the intrigued.

Traditional crystal glassware is a totally back in trend. Source classic Champagne saucers, old fashion whisky tumblers but do not forget to mix them with different glassware styles that you will need according to what drinks you have and want to serve.

Yes, there are Glassware rules, you don’t have to follow these rigorously, but certain drinks do work better in certain glasses.
Place on the trolley some fresh fruits, cocktail ingredients and brass cocktail sticks that can also be used to create a sophisticated look to your drinks and will bring some colours which work well against glass and mirrored surfaces.

During Christmas, add a touch of tradition with holly and mistletoe. For the rest of the year just play with floral arrangements, accessories and candles.
Curate some essential bar kit and use it as display items. This could be a silver shaker, an ice bucket or a bottle opener.

Styling your drinks trolley is thirsty work so is now time to enjoy a glass.
